Community Plant Practice

Community Plant Practice

Location: Good Medicine Collective, 231 York St, Portland, Maine

Join Good Medicine Collective members Tessy Seward and Ginny Gill for a quarterly series designed to deepen our familiarity and relationship with local medicinal plants. Explore the identities and traditional uses of these plants while connecting with them in teas, tinctures and essential oils. Tessy and Ginny will guide movement, meditation and breathwork practices carefully chosen to complement the cycle of the seasons and the energetics of each plant.

Winter Offering: Monday, December 15th, 6-8:30 pm. Meet ELDER

During this the darkest week of the year, we will gather for an intimate evening with Elder, the thirteenth and last tree in the Celtic tree calendar. Elder is associated with wisdom, transformation, and regeneration. She connects us to the otherworld and the eternal cycle of death and rebirth and offers potent protective and healing medicine for the body. If you’ve ever reached for elderberry syrup during cold and flu season, you are familiar with some of the gifts of this tree, gifts which inspired Hippocrates to name Elder his “medicine chest.”

Join us Monday, December 15th, 6-8:30 pm to learn more about the history, properties and energetic signature of ELDER.

Tessy and Ginny will share herbal lore as well as movement and breath practices to deepen our connection with this ancient healer, protector and guide. Tessy will lead a yoga kriya and Ginny will guide us in a conscious connected breathwork practice to expand our meeting of this plant ally.
